Description

Simple Still Life
2 Day Workshop
29th – 30th July 2023
Saturday and Sunday
9.30am – 4.30pm
Workshop = £160
Materials = £20

Outline

In this workshop you will learn methods and techniques to make your artworks look more realistic and three-dimensional. Louis will teach you to understand the difference between hue, colour, value and tone which will improve your paintings and will create the illusion of depth. As you will be painting on a pre-printed canvas, you will have more time to spend on working with oil paint.

Throughout the workshop, students will have a chance to improve observational skills, as well as creating more expressive paintings.

Schedule

The workshop will begin with a talk about colour theory. Then, Louis will demonstrate how to match tonal values, blend the colours and create paintings with depth.

Along with class lessons, instruction and critique will be given on an individual basis.

The Workshop

Organising the palette
The palette is organised by arranging it with the warmer colours on the left hand side and the cooler colours on the right of the palette. Each colour is  broken down into 3 values by adding white for the middle and light tones which helps to mix the colours with more accuracy.
