Discover the Lady Agnew Workshop

The Lady Agnew workshop is a captivating project drawn directly from our Live Online Portrait Painting Course.
This master copy is the perfect introduction to John Singer Sargent’s vibrant use of colour and his loose, expressive painting style.
If you’re considering enroling in the Year-Long Online Portrait Painting Course, this workshop offers an excellent opportunity to experience our virtual classroom first-hand before committing.
As an added bonus, the cost of the Lady Agnew workshop will be fully deducted from the Year-Long Online Portrait Painting Course when you decide to join.
What sets this experience apart? Unlike other online courses, our classes are conducted live, allowing for real-time feedback. Using live annotations, we’ll help you refine your drawing, adjust tones, and perfect colours—sometimes even through Photoshop demonstrations.
And don’t worry if you miss a session or want to revisit key points—classes are recorded for your convenience.
Join us to see how dynamic, interactive, and inspiring online learning can be!

The Workshop

In this workshop, we’ll be working with Sargent’s carefully chosen palette. Known for experimenting with pigments, Sargent used a range of colours and medium to achieve his signature depth of flesh.
We’ll kick off with an engaging talk on colour theory to lay the foundation for a dynamic painting session. Louis will then demonstrate techniques to match tonal values, blend colours seamlessly, and build rich depth into your artwork. Alongside class lessons, each student will enjoy personalised instruction and critiques, helping you refine your skills and bring your paintings to life.
