Organizing the Paint Palette – Portrait of Lisa
Organizing the paint palette. Before you begin painting, it’s essential to set up your oil paint palette in an organized way to make mixing easier and more efficient.
- Lay out your colours from warm to cool and light to dark, starting with yellow on the left. This arrangement helps maintain harmony in skin tones and ensures smoother transitions between hues.
- Create a tonal string for each colour by mixing it with white in increments. This method makes it easier to mix subtle variations in skin tones, especially for highlights.
- Use a white palette if possible, as it helps you see the subtle shifts in colour and tone more accurately, preventing colours from appearing darker than they are.
